York-Florence Collaborative Workshop a Success

The Palazzo Grifoni in Florence was the location of 'Drawing In/Screening Off: Metaphors of the Veil' a collaboration between the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz Max-Planck-Institut and the History of Art Department, York.

Gabriel Williams, Helen Hills, Mary Pardo and Emanuele Lugli in Florence‌Emanuele Lugli opened the event with Gerhard Wolf, later presenting his paper Lippi’s Absorbing Veils.  Emanuele was joined by PhD candidate Gabriel Williams who talked on The ‘Veiled Face Trick’ and Sculptural Labour in 19th-century Britain, and also Helen Hills who delivered her lecture on The Veil and the Implication of Architecture.  The day finished with a Roundtable discussion chaired by Mary Pardo followed by Gerhard Wolf ’s concluding remarks.
