Biography

Annabel began her academic career studying for her BSc in Human Nutrition and Dietetics before completing her Masters in Public Health at the University of York.

She has then worked within the NHS specialising in Mental Health Dietetics, working within both inpatient and outpatient settings. She has clinical experience working with people with a wide variety of mental health conditions, including eating disorders, dementia, anxiety, depression and serious mental illness

Outside of the NHS she has also worked as a popular science writer for the British Dietetic Association, and serious case reviewer for the Parliamentary Ombudsman

Research

Overview

Annabel’s current research involves ethnographic study of mental health inpatient units, and how the culture, attitudes and knowledge of both staff and patients contribute to obesity and weight gain.
