Biography

After completing a Master’s degree in Medical Statistics at UCL, Alyson joined the York Trials Unit in 2025 as a Trainee Statistician.

Projects

  • BART II - An RCT to evaluate the effectiveness of Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) for individuals who meet the criteria for being at risk of developing bipolar disorder.
  • FARSTER-Care - An RCT investigating whether, following cardiac surgery with full median sternotomy, an accelerated cardiac rehabilitation pathway will lead to improved patient outcomes and is cost effective compared to the usual timing of cardiac rehabilitation.
  • moreRESPECT - An RCT to investigate whether an intervention designed to promote sexual health for people with severe mental illness is clinically and cost effective. 
  • OPAL2 - A multi-centre RCT comparing the OPAL occupational support programme with usual care on the time to return-to-work in patients undergoing elective hip or knee replacement surgery.
  • SAVINGS - an RCT assessing the effects of very brief smoking cessation advice delivered by financial guidance services to adults receiving support for financial difficulties.
