The Department of Health Sciences is committed to building an inclusive and welcoming community for all staff and students. As part of the Equality, Diversity and Inclusion work within the department, a University LGBTQ champion sits on both the EDI committee and the Athena Swan Working Group. The champion is part of the wider Equality Staff Network and links work going on in the wider University to work happening in the department. This ensures that the LGBTQ community has representation and is considered in development of policies, processes and projects happening within the department.
We encourage all staff to be part of the work happening and this representation ensures that the views and challenges the community face are considered, as well as raising awareness through things like conferences, annual PRIDE activities and stands of information in the reception area.
