CRESJ at the European Sociological Association Conference

Posted on 25 August 2019

Professor Paul Wakling and José Luis (Pep) Mateos-González presented a paper on inequalities of access to postgraduate education in the UK.

At the European Sociological Association conference, held on Wednesday 24 August in Manchester, Paul and Pep's research looked at who attends a master's degree and where they previously studied. Their findings highlighted working class students are half as likely to undertake a master's degree in a 'Golden Triangle university' than those with wealthier parents, even if they match them academically.
