Education staff are highly commended in YUSU Excellence Awards 2018

Posted on 14 June 2018

A massive 17 colleagues from the department received nominations from this years YUSU Excellence Awards.

Awards are based on student nominations and cover a variety of categories. Some colleague received nominations in more than one category. We received nominations from across all of our programmes and across academic staff, professional staff and Graduate Teaching Assistants (GTAs). There were some individual comments in nominations which show the very high regard in which our colleagues are held by our students and the significant difference the department is making to student studies and success.

Three colleagues were shortlisted for an award; Sally Hancock for Supervisor of the Year; Vanita Sundaram for PhD Research Supervisor of the Year and Ruolin Hu for GTA of the Year. All three achieved highly commended for their work and despite not winning an award this year, should be very proud of the themselves for the recognition by students in this positive way.
