The Department welcomes Pep Mateos-González, Research Associate in Higher Education

Posted on 18 October 2018

Recently joining us from Durham University, Pep Mateos-González will investigate issues revolving around higher education and social justice.

Pep is currently completing his PhD at Durham, working with Vikki Boliver on the recruitment of international students in UK higher education, looking at how institutional characteristics, such as university prestige or resourcing, impact this recruitment. He has previously researched topics related to higher education, including the funding of higher education in Italy and the engagement of UK’s higher education with the European Union.

In collaboration with the Centre for Research on Education and Social Justice (CRESJ), Pep will explore a variety of issues, from access to postgraduate study to the effect of tuition fees on university enrolments. Moreover, in the next academic year, he will be teaching in a number of postgraduate and undergraduate modules.
