Background

This project will support the 'No Homeless Veterans' campaign by gathering evidence about the housing and homelessness-related experiences of veterans and people currently serving in the Armed Forces.

Aims

The project will focus on understanding the housing-related needs of veterans and serving personnel from a range of backgrounds and service experiences, using this to develop a roadmap to support the transitional processes that will help prevent homelessness.

Methods

Firstly, it will collate evidence from previous research across the Five Eyes nations about ‘what works’ to prevent and address veteran homelessness.

Secondly, it will draw on evidence gathered from interviews with 100 people from across the Armed Forces Community about their housing-related needs and experiences.

Thirdly, it will ask key stakeholders from service delivery organisations, campaign groups and policy makers about their views on interventions to address housing and homelessness issues across the Armed Forces community.

Policy and practice aims

The project will develop a ‘Roadmap’ of integrated services and information with the aim of ensuring every veteran has opportunity to access to secure and stable housing.

We need your help

• Are you a Veteran?
• Have you experienced any difficulties finding housing or accommodation since leaving the Armed Forces?
• Have you received any help or advice about housing or accommodation that you have found useful?
• Are there things you wish you had known that you would like to share with others?

If the answer to any of these questions is 'yes', you can help us understand how ex-service personnel make decisions about housing and accommodation.
