CAHR welcomes Chevening and Commonwealth Scholarship Recipients

Posted on 12 September 2019

The Centre is looking forward in the next few weeks to welcoming a range of activists from developing and Commonwealth countries into both its MA in Applied Human Rights and LLM in International Human Rights Law and Practice.

Over the past decade, the Centre has welcomed more than three dozen scholarship recipients from these programmes into its internationally focused, practice oriented post-graduate training programmes.

"We look forward to meeting the new cohort of scholarship recipients this year!" says Martin Jones, co-convenor of the LLM, "Every year they bring a diversity of experience, and most often practical experience fighting for social justice and human rights into our classrooms. They reinforce our focus on human rights globally and overcoming the challenges of fighting for human rights in the current political environment." Both programmes offer an opportunity for practice-oriented fieldwork abroad, in South Africa (for the MA) and Malaysia (for the LLM), as well as offering an opportunity to work on both  local and international human rights projects in York.
