The Impact of China's Three-Child Policy on Gender Equality for Working Mothers in the Banking Industry
The impact of China’s three-child policy on working mothers in Chinese banking industry
I am a PhD Candidate in Management at the University of York, holding an MSc with Distinction in International Business from Queen's University Belfast. My research explores the intersection of large-scale policy and individual experience, focusing on how national strategies reshape the careers and identities of working mothers. My doctoral project specifically investigates how China’s three-child policy impacts women in the banking sector. Using qualitative methods, including photo-elicitation interviews and NVivo analysis, I am building a culture-aware framework to understand how organisational practices can amplify inequality.
Alongside my doctoral studies, I am a Research Assistant on a British Academy/Leverhulme Trust funded grant exploring alternative pathways into the legal profession. I am also an experienced postgraduate TA, adept at designing and leading engaging, interdisciplinary seminars. This includes creating and delivering a 9-week Problem-Based Learning (PBL) series on Sustainable Business and Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Master's students, which featured live debates with industry partners, as well as teaching on modules such as Innovation & Creativity.
I am passionate about building academic communities and amplifying early-career voices. I am the co-founder of a peer-reviewed postgraduate journal, serves as an Associate Editor for the Cultivate Journal (Centre for Women's Studies), and is an Academy of Management (AOM) Student Ambassador. An active contributor to my field, I present at and review for major conferences like AOM and Gender, Work & Organization (GWO). My interdisciplinary approach, which combines behavioural insights with social science and visual storytelling, is further strengthened by training from Columbia University and the University of Cambridge. I am always happy to connect with others interested in gender studies, organisational behaviour, policy, or interdisciplinary collaboration.
