The Impact of China's Three-Child Policy on Gender Equality for Working Mothers in the Banking Industry
The impact of China’s three-child policy on working mothers in Chinese banking industry
I'm a PhD Candidate in Management at the University of York, holding an MSc with Distinction in International Business from Queen's University Belfast. I explore how large-scale policy becomes lived experience: how national strategies reshape the careers, bodies, and identities of working mothers. My work sits at the intersection of gender studies, organisational behaviour/HRM, and public policy, with a splash of visual storytelling. My doctoral project investigate how China’s three-child policy is translated inside organisations, focusing on women in the banking sector. Using qualitative methods (photo-elicitation interviews, field notes, and NVivo-based analysis), I develop a culture-aware, multi-level framework showing how HR practices and everyday norms can amplify inequality, even when support is formally present.
Alongside my PhD, I’m a Research Assistant on a British Academy/Leverhulme Trust-funded project exploring alternative pathways into the legal profession. I also have extensive teaching experience across postgraduate and undergraduate programmes, designing and leading engaging, interdisciplinary seminars. This includes independently developing and delivering Problem-Based Learning (PBL) series on Sustainable Business and Sustainable Entrepreneurship for Master’s students in the Environment & Geography Department, featuring case studies and live debates with industry partners, as well as teaching and marking undergraduate modules in the School for Business and Society, including Innovation & Creativity.
I am passionate about academic service and community building. I‘m an invited ad hoc reviewer for Gender, Work & Organization (Wiley), an Associate Editor for Cultivate (Centre for Women’s Studies, University of York), and a co-founder of a peer-reviewed postgraduate researcher journal at SBS. I'm also an Academy of Management (AOM) Student Ambassador, and a regular presenter and peer reviewer for conferences including AOM and GWO. My interdisciplinary approach is further strengthened by additional training in behavioural science, AI, intercultural communication, and sustainable entrepreneurship at Columbia University and the University of Cambridge.
I am always happy to connect with anyone interested in gender studies, organisations, HRM, policy, or interdisciplinary collaboration. Please feel free to to connect on LinkedIn.
