Profile

Biography

Dr Juliet Kele is a Lecturer in Human Resource Management (HRM) at the University of York. She has previously worked at Newcastle Business School, Northumbria University, at the University of Birmingham, and at the University of Leeds, where she completed her PhD (ESRC Fellowship).

Juliet was awarded Fellowship of the HEA via the PGCAP route and attained Distinction in her Level 7 Academic Professional Apprenticeship (APA) in 2023. She was nominated for a Teaching Award in the Student Led Teaching Awards 2023 at Northumbria University and received the Dean’s Award for Teaching Excellence while at Leeds in 2018.

She has a love of languages, stemming from her UG degree at the University of Nottingham.

Research

Overview

Dr Juliet Kele is passionate about conducting research on equality, diversity, and inclusion and specifically, using intersectionality theory to advance our understanding of the lived experience, inequalities and power relations.

Her ongoing research cuts across the following areas:

  • Intersecting identities (e.g., gender, race, age, class), discrimination and social justice
  • Career progression inequalities
  • Inclusive leadership
  • Intersectional and inclusive pedagogies
  • Creation and structure of organisational cultures, especially within SMEs
