More than one million children now live in households affected by the two-child limit, meaning it is increasingly important to understand the impact and consequences of this policy. It is also vital to explore who the two-child limit affects and how it might change larger families’ risk of poverty (already disproportionately high) and poverty depth (how far below the poverty line families are).

In this free webinar, we will bring together a range of important evidence on the two-child limit and its impact.

We will hear from:

  • David Whithorn, a father of three who is affected by the two-child limit
  • Tom Sefton (Church of England) and Camilla McCartney (University of Leeds), who will share recent findings from research that explores the impact of the policy on affected families
  • Kitty StewartAaron Reeves and Ruth Patrick, who are conducting research into welfare reform and larger families, and who will explore the changing poverty risk faced by larger families even before the policy took effect.

The webinar will be chaired by TBC, and will take place from 12.30pm – 2.00pm on Thursday 10 September.

Presentations will be kept short and there will be plenty of time for questions.

This webinar is organised by Child Poverty Action Group, the universities of Oxford, York and the London School of Economics and Political Science, and is part of the welfare reform and larger families research project funded by the Nuffield Foundation.
