Digital Creativity Week

Posted on 24 February 2022

Digital Creativity Week is a week-long event for students to work with digital and creative technologies, explore archival material and research, and develop skills, culminating in the creation of digital artefacts for an exhibition as part of York Festival of Ideas.

A montage image shows Stonegate in York over a background of an old map, and with a red devil statue in the foreground. A sign has been edited to read 'Digital Creativity Week 2022'.

What is it?

Digital Creativity Week

This year, Digital Creativity Week will be exploring the past, present and future of Stonegate in York city centre, using material from the Borthwick Institute for Archives and the University and York Minster's rare books collections to open up new routes for digital engagement with the past. Participants will work with staff across the University's Library, Archives and Learning Services, get the chance to get hands-on with cutting edge technologies and try out creative skills and ideas outside of an academic discipline, developing and furthering interests in areas of digital creation, communication, and public engagement. Digital Creativity Week is open to students at the University of York at all levels of study and across all subjects.

When will it be?

Digital Creativity Week 2022 will run from Monday 13 - Friday 17 June, with an exhibition event on Wednesday 22 June as part of York Festival of Ideas. Each day runs from 9am - 4pm, with a combination of face-to-face workshops, activities, and time for working on your creations.

How to take part

Applications are now closed, but on 22 June, you will be able to visit the exhibition and view the work created.
