New version of the Borthwick Catalogue released

Posted on 3 May 2018

A new version of our catalogue is now available. Additional functionality includes searching by date range and a clipboard feature

We have recently upgraded the Borthwick Catalogue and you may notice a few changes.

We are particularly pleased that the catalogue now includes the ability to search by a date range (this is new functionality within the advanced search).

We think you will like the new 'clipboard' feature which provides a way of keeping track of records you are interested in.

The new full width treeview (shown below) allows you to more easily view the hierarchical structure of the finding aid you are browsing and see where you are within that structure. In the previous version of our catalogue this information was partially visible  on the left of the screen and was much harder to use.

Read about the changes in more depth in a blog post, or view our help pages to review how to to use the catalogue.

Note that we have taken the opportunity as part of this upgrade, to rationalise and shorten the urls that we use for records within the catalogue. The web address for a particular catalogue entry will now relate to the unique identifier we use for that section of the archive here at the Borthwick. We believe this to be the best decision in the long term, but in the short term you may find you need to update your links and bookmarks. Redirects have been put in place to minimise the impact this change will have on our users.

Do let us know if you have any comments or feedback on our new catalogue.
