Halogenated Solvent Waste

• Any halogenated solvents e.g. :
  • Carbon tetrachloride
  • Chloroform
  • Dichloromethane (DCM)
  • 1,1,2,2-Tetrachloroethane
• Hierarchy of solvent disposal: halogenated > flammable > aqueous
• ‘Halogenated Waste’ bottles used for Phenol /Chloroform mixtures
• MUST NOT contain ACETONE and other reactive substances e.g. oxidising & reducing agents, alkalis, inorganic acids
• Use PLASTIC COATED GLASS bottles for ‘HALOGENATED’ waste
