Tim Barber (trumpet)

Tim Barber was born in Worcestershire in 1981. He graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) in 2004, having been invited to tour with the European Union Youth Orchestra and awarded a PPRNCM with distinction.


Tim now works regularly with such ensembles as the Halle Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, Royal Philharmonic, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Opera North, Ulster Orchestra and BBC National Orchestra of Wales, touring throughout Europe, North and South America and Asia and appearing regularly at the BBC Proms.


Commercially, he has worked with artists such as Elbow, The 1975, The XX, Noel Gallagher, Bryn Terfel and Katherine Jenkins. An active chamber musician, Tim is a member of metropolitan Brass and has also been fortunate enough to perform regularly with Halle brass and as a soloist with the Northern Chamber Orchestra and Lancashire Sinfonietta. He has performed as a concerto soloist in venues such as St Johns Waterloo and the Stephaniensaal, Graz.

 

Tim is a Trumpet tutor at the University of York, JRNCM, the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain and is a chamber music tutor at the RNCM.
