Roxanne is a researcher and educator in communication design with expertise in fostering inclusivity through creative practice. Her work bridges qualitative research, participatory design, and interdisciplinary collaboration, particularly focusing on addressing structural inequalities in cultural and sports contexts.
After completing a BA (Hons) in Graphic and Media Design at the University of the Arts London, Roxanne pursued an MRes in Communication Design at the Royal College of Art, followed by a PhD at Northumbria University. Her doctoral research, “Doing it Themselves: Using Communication Design to Make Space for the Experience of Marginalised Genders in Grassroots Football,” explored how design can document and amplify the voices of marginalised groups.
In her previous role, Roxanne was Course Leader for the MA Graphic Design programme at Leeds Arts University, overseeing curriculum development, student research, and exhibitions. She has also delivered workshops and guest lectures at Royal College of Art and Sheffield Hallam.
Roxanne has collaborated with organisations such as The Design Museum, Leeds Industrial Museum and Leeds Art Gallery. Her research has been published in journals, book chapters, and international exhibitions.
Roxanne’s work combines rigorous academic research with practical design outputs, focusing on the transformative potential of creative methods in addressing societal challenges.
