Overview

Ros is a co-design researcher on the UKRI-funded infrastructure project: Smart Data Donation Service (SDDS). SDDS aims to empower individuals to have control over their digital trace data, which they generate passively through an online platform and share this data with researchers to support them to understand and improve our digital society.

He explores the intersection of co-design, digital commons, digital equity and online engagement to empower communities to create a more equitable and digital future. This research vision involves co-designing inclusive tools and platforms that facilitates collaboration with local, national and international communities and empowers them to address a range of global challenges.
He employs a range of co-design methods, including participatory workshops, creative facilitation, digital tools and blended approaches, to ensure inclusivity and engagement.

Prior to joining York in April 2025, he was the PI for the ESRC-Digital Good Network funded project Cooperativa Digital. In this role, he worked in partnership with Universidade Federal do Maranhão (Brazil) and Publicidade Jove to enable a Brazilian community of NGOs to have control over a privately-owned donation app called Reapp through a co-design approach.

He previously conducted his PhD research as part of the AHRC-funded project Leapfrog, where he delivered a series of co-design workshops to academics and public sector practitioners to co-designed improvements of  tools they use to engage with their communities to transform their everyday design practices in health and care.
