After completing a BSc in Film and Television Production at the University of York in 2019, I went on to work as a Research Assistant for SIGN and XR Stories, to further their understanding of Virtual Production as a potential area for development in Yorkshire. This experience led to working on a range of R&D extended reality projects with Imminent XR, including 'Mrs Sherlock Holmes VR' for the StoryFutures Xperience programme, and 'Redemption Street' a Virtual Production experimental short, filmed at the XPLOR LED Volume at Production Park.
As a professional creator of 360-degree Virtual Reality content, I've worked directly with Harrogate & District NHS Foundation Trust on the production of VR training videos, and have been a 360 video filmmaking advisor on 'Behind the Screen - The ITV Emmerdale Immersive VR Experience', with AY-PE, XR Stories and SIGN, showcased at the Beyond Conference in 2023. I've also assisted with the production of 'The Great Beyond', a Virtual Reality R&D project which looked into developing pioneering linear narrative storytelling techniques for 360-degree filmmaking, in collaboration with the School of ACT, XR Stories and VIDAVEO.
I am actively engaged in researching new forms of production technology, and am currently undertaking a PhD by Creative Practice, where my research focuses on the applicability of existing filmmaking techniques and directorial methods for portraying narratives in Cinematic Virtual Reality. As a PhD researcher, I have taught regularly in the School of ACT since 2021 across a range of UG and PGT modules in multi-camera production, filmmaking and post-production processes, and actively engage in researching creativity in teaching and learning in higher education.
