Jo Tozer

Research Manager

Jo leads the Department's research support team, providing end-to-end support for the development and delivery of research grants and associated contracts, supporting research engagement and impact and working with the Chair of Research Committee and Impact lead to implement the Department’s research and impact strategies.

Please contact Jo for all advice and guidance relating to the preparation of research grant applications, providing advice on application procedures and eligibility criteria; completing project costings; co-ordinating input from collaborators / sub-contractors, obtaining appropriate authorisations; and ensuring the timely submission of applications. Jo will also work closely with the PIs and CIs to develop the structure and content of the bid so do please get in touch at the earliest opportunity. Jo also provides post-award support for the Department's portfolio of grant awards, ensuring that award holders are aware of the key contractual obligations of the individual grants and contracts awarded and providing support for reports to funders / consortium leads, advising on and co-ordinating amendments to grant activities and ensuring appropriate financial management of live awards. 

Jo supports the Head of Department and Chair of Research Committee in leading the co-ordination and support for the Department's Research Excellence Framework (REF) related activities including monitoring open access compliance of outputs, organising the review of outputs and developing impact case studies. Jo maintains the Department's research web-pages and Google Currents Research support community and should be your first point of contact for research systems support, including PURE, Je-S, Researchfish and Worktribe. She is a member of the University's Research Systems Steering Group, PURE Stakeholder Group and Horizon Europe Working Group.

Jo works Monday - Friday. She is usually in Palaeohub or King's Manor on Thursdays but otherwise works remotely and can be contacted by phone, Zoom, email or Slack.
