Burcu Aksahin
Digital Archives Assistant

Burcu started working with the Archaeology Data Service (ADS) in February 2024 as part of her student placement, and officially joined the team as a Digital Archives Assistant in September 2024. She holds a BA in Ancient History and Archaeology (2019) and an MA in Archaeology (Classical and Roman Strand, 2020) from Durham University. She developed an interest in digital archiving during her research scholarship at the British Institute at Ankara between 2020-2023.

Burcu recently completed an MSc in Digital Archaeology (2026) at the University of York, which she pursued alongside her role at the ADS. Her project “Lost Villages of Southeastern Anatolia: A Digital Story” was awarded the University of York Digital Archaeology and Heritage dissertation award. Her research interests include digital storytelling, cultural heritage data curation, and sustainable and egalitarian digital archiving practices.
