LGBTQ+

We aim to provide a safe and friendly environment for all LGBTQ+ students and staff. We listen to the views and challenges of the LGBTQ+ community and seek to ensure our equality and diversity initiatives are able to respond  to and grow through these experiences. As well as this, we aim to play our role in raising awareness and combating issues which members of this community face. 

Departmental Systems

• The departmental equality, diversity and inclusion committee meets once a semester and co-ordinates the departmental culture survey. 
• The department also has a number of equality champions who provide a focus for the voice of specific communities. 

The department runs a number of equality networks, which includes LGBTQ+ network, disabled students network, race equality network and caring responsibilities network (Contact Penny.Spikins@york.ac.uk for more details).
