Overview

The University approach to developing a performance culture requires regular communication and inputs and is not restricted to the annual formal performance and development review. So we strongly encourage regular dialogue between each member of staff and their manager, and as a minimum this should include a termly discussion around progress towards objectives, workload, career aspirations and wellbeing.

This guide is intended to support managers in having full and meaningful 1:1' with their members of staff. The content of the meeting will vary depending on the situation, so you may need to omit some themes/questions and include your own additional ones as appropriate.
