Calling all professionals: grow and share your network
The University is calling on professionals in the local area to support an exciting event on campus on 6 March, from 4.30pm to 8.30pm.
Professional networks are a powerful tool in competitive job markets. Local professionals are being encouraged to attend this networking event hosted by the University of York Careers Service, the Students’ Union and the Graduate Students’ Association. The event is designed to promote connections between students and professionals working across a range of sectors. It offers a unique opportunity to build new links with the University and to encourage those students who are about to enter the job market.
The event is free to attend and will focus on three sectors:
- Media, Journalism and Publishing
- Finance, Management and Law
- Government, Charity and Public Sector
University students will receive invitations closer to the event, but we are currently inviting professionals working in these areas to register to attend.
Event programme
- 4.30 pm – On arrival, professionals will be greeted with a buffet and refreshments. Guests will then have the opportunity to network with each other before a short briefing about the event.
- 6.00pm – There will be a Q/A session with our student audience with a panel for each sector. This will give professionals an opportunity to talk about their work, and students will ask questions to explore their own options and interests.
- 7.15pm – Drinks and canapés will be served, and students and professionals will have an opportunity to network, enjoy live music and discover new connections.
