See the Vice-Chancellor’s latest message to students, following the government’s recent announcement that England will fully return to Plan A on Thursday 27 January.

1. Looking after your personal safety

We’ve teamed up with the Suzy Lamplugh Trust to create some essential training for students to help you think about personal safety, giving you the know-how to assess, manage and reduce risks. Shaped by students for students, the course comes in short, easy-to-watch video segments and focuses on topics such as identifying harassment, stalking awareness, and ways to deal with conflict. Complete the personal safety awareness video course.

2. Join a virtual exchange with Japanese students

Global Opportunities is hosting a small intercultural exchange project in which students from Tohoku University and York will get to know each other’s culture. Find out more and apply for the virtual exchange.

3. Develop curious thinking

Come to the new Friday Forum discussion group to practice critical thinking, presenting an argument, and defending a stance in a friendly, relaxed, environment. The discussions are open to all and are aimed at anyone who wants to feel part of an active, curious learning community and develop their ability to interact and share ideas with others, free from the constraints of evaluation or assessment. 4. Holocaust Memorial Day

Hosted by the Lord Mayor of York and the Vice-Chancellor, join the online York Holocaust Memorial Day Civic Event as we commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day on Thursday 27 January. The event features talks and short films reflecting on the Holocaust and the 2022 national theme, One Day.

5. York Residents’ Festival 2022

This weekend is York Residents’ Festival, where residents get free or discounted admission to top attractions and leisure facilities across the city. You just need your York student ID card. See York Residents’ Festival attractions, events and offers.
