Do you know the telltale signs of a scam?
All students can be targeted by scammers. Please take a look at current scams we’re aware of to help protect yourself.

1. Join the Student Expert Panel

The Student Expert Panel meets twice a month and ensures that student experiences, needs and perspectives are represented in the work of the University. We’re currently recruiting new members and welcome applications from all current students, no matter how you are studying, whether you live on or off campus, your stage of study and regardless of previous experience. Application deadline: Wednesday 1 June. Find out more about the Student Expert Panel and apply.

2. Academic support: Writing Centre

The Writing Centre offers advice and guidance on academic writing, critical thinking and analysis skills to help you develop effective study habits and communication skills. See our online Academic Writing practical guide for tutorials and videos to help you develop all aspects of academic writing and book a one-to-one Writing Centre appointment for personalised guidance, no matter what level of study.

3. York Strengths Day Development sessions

Are you a Problem Solver? A Pioneering Thinker? An Agile Learner? When you understand your strengths - the things you are good at and you love to do - you can make better decisions for your future. There are two development sessions on Thursday 16 June exclusively for taught postgrads. Book your place on the Postgraduate York Strengths Development Day morning session or Postgraduate York Strengths Development Day afternoon session.

4. Study success tip: keep active

Exercising is one of the quickest and most effective ways to de-stress. Regular exercise can actually help your brain work better. Fresh air will clear your head and perk you up, even a short walk will do. See all our top tips for study and exam success.

5. Free English language classes

Do you know anyone who would benefit from free English language classes? As part of the CertTESOL course, we’re hosting free two-hour classes, four days a week, from Monday 20 June to Thursday 21 July. There are two different levels of language proficiency - one at pre-intermediate level and one at upper-intermediate level. Complete the form to attend.
