Yorkshire Marathon: mind where you park
The Yorkshire Marathon takes place on campus at the weekend so lots of car parks will be closed from Thursday. If you park on campus, make sure you move your vehicle to avoid getting stuck. See Yorkshire Marathon car park closures.

1. How to boost your mental health and wellbeing

Just like eating healthily or getting enough exercise, proactively putting things in place to support your mental health can help you feel better able to cope with everyday challenges. So why not mark World Mental Health Day today by starting to take some everyday steps to support your mental health?

2. Come to our Careers Fairs

Explore graduate schemes with employers in a range of work areas and sectors at our Careers Fairs this week. As well as being a chance to meet employers, you can also get your CV reviewed, get your LinkedIn profile photo taken, and get interview clothes for free. 3. Volunteer to make a difference

Do you want to make a positive contribution to your wellbeing, the local community, and also gain experience and skills? There are many volunteering opportunities to get involved with this term. York Students in Schools (YSIS) are recruiting volunteers to complete Spring Term placements in local schools and nurseries. See more information about volunteering at York.

4. If you had £1 million, but you had to spend it ALL within 24 hours, what would you do?

It’s not always easy to talk about money but it plays a key role in all of our lives and conversations about money can be crucial. Do you know how your friends feel about splitting restaurant bills, for example, or taking part in more expensive trips and activities? Blackbullion, our financial learning platform, suggests eight different ways to start a conversation about money.

You’ll certainly need to talk about money if you’re living in shared private accommodation where bills are not included in your rent. It’s important to set a household approach to shared costs like energy consumption. Even if your bills are included, you should still know about any fair usage policy that might apply. See our Student guide to the Energy Bills Support Scheme for how Government schemes might affect you.

5. SPOTLIGHT: Support for students with children

You may have read recently about our new Family Study Room opening in the Library. There’s study space for you and activities for your child. It’s an ideal space for short study sessions when you need to keep your children with you and occupied. Here at York, we have tailored support for different groups of students - our student communities. Find out about the many ways we offer support and advice to students with children.
