2026 SoTL Symposium

The Academic Quality and Development team is pleased to announce that the York Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) Symposium 2026 will be held on Wednesday 23 June 2026.

This free one-day, in-person event brings together colleagues to engage in constructive dialogue and share evidence-based inquiries into teaching and learning. The symposium offers an opportunity to demonstrate and disseminate how SoTL is being used to reshape our educational practices in teaching, curriculum design, assessment and feedback, and to support all students throughout their education journey.  

Presentation format

A 15-minute presentation, followed by five minutes of questions. Submissions may be made by individuals or teams.

How to Submit

Proposals should be submitted via the online submission form. You will be asked to provide:

  • Name and contact details of the presenter(s).
  • The title of your submission.
  • An abstract of max. 250 words, including the following information:
    • Articulate your research focus/question and why you chose it.
    • Briefly outline your data collection and analysis methodology.
    • Briefly outline the results of your study.
    • Provide conclusions that are grounded in your results and contextualise these in relation to existing SoTL literature.
    • Briefly state how undertaking the project has provided you/colleagues with a basis for effective practice.
  • Three to five keywords
  • References

2019 SoTL Colloquium

Professor Jane Pritchard gave keynote session on undertaking and publishing your SoTL, and other studies presented included research on dialogic pedagogy and assessment practices.
