Welcome to the October/November update for the ReCSS.

Playtime Research Network Meetings

Talk and thinking about future funding opportunities and intellectual activity. Sign-up using the Doodle polls.  All these events are located in the ReCSS building and run from 12-2pm.

  • 18 November - Austerity - An inter-departmental opportunity to talk, network and strategise around collective research interests and/or strategic topic areas that cut across the disciplines, in this case 'austerity', and discuss what the best way is to take emerging initiatives forward through e.g. possible future funding opportunities etc. https://uniofyork.doodle.com/u7tgcqgwtw8mnx7e

University of York Economic and Social Research Council Impact Acceleration Account
The University of York has been awarded an ESRC Impact Acceleration Account (ESRC IAA) which will support a four-year programme of activities with external partners. As well as providing a number of funding opportunities we will also coordinate a series of workshops.

  • 3 December - Understanding & Influencing Parliament Workshop - This event will introduce how Parliament works, the avenues through which academics and researchers can have influence, and includes academic colleagues talking through their experiences of influencing policy. This event is suitable for all University of York colleagues interested in influencing policy.      Click here to book your place

 

Social Sciences Staff Coffee Morning

The next coffee morning (refreshments provided), will be on Friday 28 November at 11am in the ReCSS Training Room.  As always, feel free to come along with colleagues or visitors from outside the university.

ReCSS Students Welcome Party

We will be holding a “Welcome Party” for the students based in ReCSS on Friday, 14 November, 12noon until 1pm, with coffee, cake and wine.  Supervisors of these students are also invited and if anyone is interested in attending, please email rcss-admin@york.ac.uk as soon as possible, as this will be helpful for catering purposes.
