Monday 4 June 2018, 1.45PM

Speaker(s): Keynote lecture by Professor Paul Cooke (University of Leeds)

The Interdisciplinary Global Development Centre (IGDC) is a new centre that brings together research expertise on development from all three faculties in the University of York and will offer a suite of teaching programmes on development. Led by Politics, IGDC research currently focuses on citizenship, governance, health and wellbeing, sustainability and development alternatives. The IGDC invites you to visit their website www.york.ac.uk/igdc to learn more about its vision and current projects. Please follow the York_IGDC twitter page to keep up-to-date with the Centre’s activities and upcoming events.

To celebrate the launch of the IGDC, the Centre will be hosting an afternoon of stimulating talks and debates on Monday 4 June. Professor Paul Cooke, the Centenary Chair in World Cinema at the University of Leeds, will deliver the keynote lecture. Based on his GCRF-funded project on India, Brazil, and South Africa, he will be speaking about the use of Participatory Video for Advocacy and International Development. This will be followed by short presentations of past and current IGDC research projects and there will also be an opportunity for attendants to share research ideas.
