A day in the life of a Assistant Professor in Taiwan

How I found out about the job

Employer's website

My career history

2007-2008 University of Warsaw; 2008-2010 Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) Zurich; 2010-2011 National Chiao Tung University Taiwan.

Where I hope to be in 5 years

I hope in time to have well equipped chemistry labs, many brilliant students, and good publications.

My advice to students considering work

My advice would be to think 5 years ahead; balance the risk and anticipated benefits.

What I do

I am establishing my own research group in the area of analytical chemistry. I will also offer courses in this field.

Skills I use and how I developed them

I had a PhD and three years of postdoctoral experience in analytical chemistry.

Degree skills:
The skills developed at York (hard and soft) contributed a lot to my personal development, and still impact me in the new role.

Extracurricular skills:
Leadership - as a postdoctoral fellow; advanced presentation skills developed through courses; writing skills - enhanced by preparing manuscripts for publication; hard skills in analytical chemistry - developed as a postdoctoral fellow.

What I like most

I enjoy the opportunity to conduct research independently, and to develop mentoring skills.
