A day in the life of a Technical Analyst in the United Kingdom

How I found out about the job

Already worked there

The recruitment process

There was no recruitment process for this position, as I've already completed a successful summer internship with Credit Suisse, which resulted in them offering me a full-time graduate job. The recruitment process for the internship itself was comprised of multiple stages, including an online application form, several online tests and two rounds of interviews.

My career history

Apart from the internship that I have done in Credit Suisse, I also did an internship after my first year at university as a Software Developer Trainee at AtoS International in Sofia, Bulgaria. After my second year at uni, I managed to get a placement with Amadeus Services Limited and worked in London and Nice, France as a Business Analyst.

My advice to students considering work

It is really important to try to get your foot in the door as early as possible, be it by attending careers events on campus, attending virtual events with companies/recruiters, or simply by emailing employees of the company you would like to work for. By doing this, you'll not only manage to get an insight into the company's working environment, but you'll also expand your professional network which is vital to be successful in today's job market.

My advice about working in my industry

It is really important that you keep up-to-date with everything that is happening within the industry you are interested about, as most of them are really fast-paced nowadays thanks to recent technological advancements. By doing that, you have the chance to significantly stand out from the other applicants and impress your future employer/interviewer.

Skills I use and how I developed them

Extracurricular skills:
Your technical knowledge in working with various programming languages and techniques is as essential as being able to effectively communicate with other stakeholders and convey or clarify ideas. In today's job market having profound technical abilities is not enough if you'd like to secure a job offer with one of the big companies out there. You can develop and enhance your communication skills as part of your university studies by actively taking part in any of the group projects you have to complete, or by doing extracurricular activities and presentations for the societies you are part of.
