My career history

Nikolaos currently works for Aon's Finance team as a Financial Analyst with core responsibility to drive business performance and ensure key revenue and cost drivers are effectively planned, resourced and achieved. He started his professional career with Aon as a graduate analyst with the Risk Finance team supporting a prestigious group of risk consultants and providing clients with solutions regarding risk financing methods within the insurance area. After the graduate scheme, he was appointed to a Business Analyst role working mainly on operations and driving business performance excellence for his department. Nikolaos holds a Master's degree in Accounting and Financial Management from the University of York, has completed his insurance qualifications with CII (Cert CII) and works towards his ACCA exams (part qualified).

My advice to students considering work

Prepare yourself fully for the interview and look into details that will impress the interviewer. I believe that insurance is a safe area to work, very prestigious with a lot of options in terms of types of roles.

What I do

My primary responsibility is to work with the Senior Business Partners to support the MD and Leadership teams to drive business performance and ensure key revenue and cost drivers are effectively planned, resourced and achieved.

Managing and analysing premium/revenue data, embedding accurate revenue and cost forecasting, providing reports to the Finance team and supported businesses regarding premium and revenue reconciliation, organic analysis, salary/incentives/benefits costs, and preparing relevant balance sheet account statements.

Skills I use and how I developed them



Extracurricular skills:
I have to meet strict deadlines very often. I analyse huge amounts of data and have to pay attention to details, and I have to communicate this analysis in the most effective way. This has helped to improve my time management,analytical and interpersonal skills.

What I like most

The exposure in to a variety of things within Accounting that enhance my skills and experience.

What I like least

The number of the systems that I use and need to be familiar with.
