A day in the life of a Teacher of Greek in Cyprus

How studying in the UK affected my job seeking

How I searched for jobs:
I used the Ministry of Education's website where all the recognised schools are listed and I sent my CV. I went to a number of interviews and when a vacancy was available I was called in.

Attitudes to study in the UK:
All employers look positively on my studies in the UK because of the language.

Challenges in looking for jobs:
I don't think studying in the UK had a negative impact in finding graduate positions. As a teacher though studying in the UK, I was expected by my employers to have a knowledge of the British curriculum which unfortunately I didn't.

Where I hope to be in 5 years

My hopes is to have my own class where I will be able to teach all lessons.

My advice to students considering work

My advice is to send as many CVs as possible, never be disappointed and start from any job related to your profession and finally promote in your CV the University of York as it is quite popular.

What I do

I am teaching Greek to different classes of different levels. Also I am responsible for European progams like Erasmus.

Skills I use and how I developed them

Extracurricular skills:
I use different teaching skills. Also I incorporate the use of technology in my teaching.

What I like most

I have a lot of opportunity to take initiatives and my work is appreciated.

What I like least

I don't have a class of my own and this is something I would like.
