After conducting the first set of interviews i.e. those not requiring ethics approval from the NHS, Nik, Laura and Danae are working on a paper around the global trade of cord blood, involving figures on the importing and exporting of cord blood. It is now ready for submission to a high ranking social science journal.
An abstract on the blurring of private and public cord blood banking has been submitted to the ISA World Congress of Sociology Conference in July 2010.
The team intends to submit an abstract for the British Sociological Association Medical Sociology Conference 2010 in Durham by the end of April 2010.
After collecting data from online communities, Danae is currently working on a paper around the subject of e-health and cord blood.
