Title of Research:

"Inflicting Peace: A comparative analysis of the master narratives of foreign intervention in Côte d’Ivoire, 2000 – 2015"

Brief overview of research topic:

In a world with spiralling numbers of peace operations, refugees frozen in camps for decades, and a global struggle to resolve chronic conflict, can the international community ‘inflict peace’ on a country?

Maggie’s research is a case study of the French, ECOWAS, UN and US interventions in Côte d’Ivoire between 2000 and 2015, assessing the impact of the foreign interventions on the Ivoirian people and political economy.

The research uses quantitative data, institutional archives, and ethnographic interviews to develop an integrated analysis of the internal and external participants’ narratives of the international missions to Côte d’Ivoire and how these interventions positively and negatively affected the country.
