Individual and Political Freedom: A critical approach on the liberal arguments against Athenian democracy
The primary purpose of the research project is to examine and present a critical approach of the liberal arguments formulated by important thinkers in the 18th century and in the first decades of the 19th century against Athenian democracy. The fundamental aspects of the research project are related to the identification of democracy with despotism, the rejection of political freedom because of the actions of Jacobins and the examination of the liberal criticism against the political theory of Jean Jacques Rousseau.
