A few words from our equality and diversity lead; Professor Monica Brito-Vieira:

Today is International Women's Day, a day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women around the world, but also for critically examining setbacks and the reasons for women still lagging behind men across so many of these areas.

As we move through the day, women's wins, setbacks and comebacks, their formidable resilience and work as drivers of social change ought to remain at the front of our minds.

Here are but a few inspiring examples:

46 years of "Reclaim the Night", a women's march reclaiming bodily autonomy against gendered and sexual violence;
11 years of Inclusive Mosque, a group of Muslim feminists shaping a non-judgmental space in which to practice their faith
The ongoing work of Stella Dadzie, a pioneer of the Black British Women's Movement
