Giacomo is particularly interested in the problem of populism in the context of contemporary representative democracies. The main goal of Giacomo's PhD dissertation is to provide a new theoretical framework, re-defining populism as a specific pattern of political representation from a philosophical perspective. In doing so, Giacomo hopes to contribute to bridge the gap between democratic theory and empirical studies about populism.
