International narrative conference held in Manchester

The annual conference of the International Society for the Study of Narrative was held in Manchester this year, bringing over 400 narrative scholars from around the world to the UK. Among the ICNS participants were members of the both the NarCS group and the fictionality group.

ISSN conference, Manchester 2013

The 2013 Narrative Society conference was hosted by Manchester Metropolitan University from June 27th to 29th, with keynote speakers Catherine Belsey, Diane Negra and Nicholas Royle. With thirteen 8-panel parallel sessions, as well as two plenary Contemporary Narrative Theory sessions, the conference provided an intensive intellectual experience across the range of narrative studies today.

Speakers included Richard Walsh, Ben Tyrer and Alex Beaumont from York, along with NarCS members Marina Grishakova, Merja Polvinen and Maria Poulaki, and fictionality group members Stine Grumsen, Louise Brix Jacobsen, Simona Zetterberg Gjerlevsen, Stefan Kjerkegaard, Ruth Schuldiner, Stefan Iversen and Henrik Nielsen (among others); as well as perhaps the majority of contributors to the Narratology and Ideology project.
