Reproduction and the Humanities Network

The Reproduction and the Humanities Network aims to bring together researchers working on themes and issues relating to reproduction across a range of disciplines and from various geographical regions.

We host both online and in-person events and showcase exciting new research, events and recent publications in this area via a quarterly newsletter.

Recent events include

  • An in-person talk by Dr Priyanka Tripathi from the Indian Institute of Technology Patna entitled: 'A Decolonial Intersectional Approach to Abortion Narratives in Indian Anglophone' in March 2025
  • An online research seminar including talks by Professor Jennifer Cooke from Loughborough University entitled 'Beyond Proleptic Pregnancy: Abortion and Miscarriage in Contemporary Poetry' and by Dr Sophie Jones from Strathclyde University entitled 'Miscarriage, TIme and Narrative: Christine Smallwood's The Life of the Mind' in November 2025.

Our next online research seminar will take place in March 2026.

We are also in the process of editing a book which draws on research by network members entitled Representing Reproduction in Contemporary Literature and Culture: Time, Crisis and Futurity which is due to be published by Edinburgh University Press in 2026.
