Bookgroup with Priya Basil

Wednesday 1 February 2012, 6.00PM

Speaker(s): Priya Basil, novelist

Join Priya Basil to discuss her second novel The Obscure Logic of the Heart.  Set in Kenya, the UK and Sudan, the novel tells a tangled story of love across religious backgrounds, geographies and conflicting loyalties.

Priya will read an extract from her book and then discuss the book with participants.  You do not have to have read the novel to attend, although it would be wonderful if you have. The atmosphere will be inclusive and informal and we will be serving soft drinks and wine.

There will be another opportunity to meet Priya the following day:

Authors for Peace Seminar with Priya Basil
Treehouse, Berrick Saul Building, 10am, Thursday February 2nd

A one-hour seminar for anyone interested in Priya Basil's Authors for Peace initiative.  Priya will discuss why she began the project and give details of some of the campaigns.  She will also reflect on art and activism.

These events are being hosted by the English Society and the Aftermaths Research Strand, with support from Writers at York.
