Europe

Tuesday 17 January 2017, 5.30PM

An HRC Lightning Rods event.

‘Europe’ is a pressing concern for Britain, for the EU, for the larger European region and globally. This Lightning Rods session aims to stimulate and connect interdisciplinary research on Europe’s past, present and future, none of which can be understood in isolation. Colleagues working in subjects as diverse as art history, economics, environment, film, health sciences, history, management, medieval studies, poetry and politics have a stake in ‘Europe’ and the university is well-placed to pursue innovative cross-faculty research in this field.

The Lightning Rods session will begin with short contributions from Dr Nicole Lindstrom (Politics), Dr Hugo Service (History), Dr Simon Sweeney (Management) and Professor Elizabeth Tyler (English and Medieval Studies). These contributions will be followed by open discussion. Please do come along with your ideas about how we can pursue research about ‘Europe’ at York.

Location: The Treehouse, Berrick Saul Building
