William Mead Cheek

William Mead Cheek is a PhD candidate working under the supervision of Dr. Jane Hawkes and Dr. Richard McClary. His thesis is an investigation of Anglo-Saxon architectural sculpture across England with a focus on its sociopolitical and liturgical context. Mead's other research interests beyond Anglo-Saxon and related sculpture include the art and architecture of pre-Columbian Peru, particularly Inka and Wari khipus and related information storage/transmission technologies, upon which he worked as the subject of his MA thesis at the University of New Mexico. Mead received his MA in Art History with a focus on the art of the americas from the University of New Mexico and his BA in Art History from the University of Texas at Austin.
