What is the SUCI Partnership?

The Service User and Carer Involvement Partnership comprises of Service Users and Carers who are interested in the education of nurses, midwives and other healthcare professionals.

The SUCI Partnership has been developed to meet the regulations of the Nursing and Midwifery Council, to facilitate engagement with our local population and embed the service user and carer voice into our professional healthcare programmes. The purpose of the SUCI partnership is to promote, encourage and increase the use of service users and carers in teaching and learning activities across Health Sciences programmes.

Anyone who identifies as a service user or carer is welcome to join the SUCI Partnership. However, in the interest of widening participation, we would be particularly keen to engage with the following service users and carers, who are currently under-represented in our SUCI Partnership:

  • People with a disability
  • People with a long-term condition or illness that affects their physcial or mental health
  • People who have been involved with maternity services
  • Those under the age of 25.

At the University of York we adopt an inclusive approach and are committed to welcoming all service users and carers from a variety of backgrounds and experiences. Those who identify as a 'service user' will be 'experts by experience' and will have current or previous experience of health and/or social care services. The term 'carer' refers to someone who supports a family member, friend or loved one and does not refer to those in official carer roles. To join the SCUI Partnership become a member of the partnership you need to sign up through the ‘get involved’ page

The SUCI Partnership staff group will meet four times a year to oversee progress with any active task and finish groups (please visit the webpage on SUCI partnership activities).
