Disability

The University of York and the Department of Health Sciences is committed to inclusive learning and teaching. We encourage all students who may need additional support because of a disability to contact Disability Services.

We recommend that you contact Disability Services regarding any specific requirements when you apply or at enrolment, in order that we can ensure that support is in place for you when you start. In addition to this, we understand that personal circumstances may change during your time at University. If this happens you approach them to discuss how a recent diagnosis may be affecting your studies.

The Department has a Student Disability Committee which is chaired by Rose Pringle. Linda Currie is the deputy chair and together with colleagues the group works to:

  • ensure that disability related issues are at the top of the Department's agenda
  • review student support plans and consider recommendations from Disability Services
  • provide reports to Board of Studies
  • liaise with Practice Placement Providers.
