Information for GPs

The CASPER study aims to find out whether collaborative care reduces depression symptom severity among older adults in a cost-effective manner. Collaborative care borrows much from the management of long-term health problems and ensures the delivery of effective forms of treatment with special emphasis on brief psychological therapy and involves augmenting the role of non-medical specialists in primary care.

This is a multi-centre, pragmatic randomised controlled trial. Four geographical areas in the north of England are currently taking part. We are recruiting in York, Leeds, Durham, Newcastle and their surrounding areas.
