Study skills

You will find lots of useful information on topics such as maths, IT and academic study skills on the university's page www.york.ac.uk/students/studying/develop-your-skills/study-skills/.

www.palgrave.com/skills4study/ is a useful and practical study skills resource provided by the publishing company Palgrave-Macmillan. It gives guidance on general undergraduate study skills. It also provides subject-specific advice for individual academic disciplines and includes sections for postgraduate students and international students.

The Open University provides open access to some of its study skills resources. These cover general undergraduate study skills but also include sections on using maths and statistics and preparing and giving presentations www2.open.ac.uk/students/skillsforstudy/.

global.oup.com/uk/orc/nursing/ is an Oxford University Press online study skills resource for nursing students.

www.ucl.ac.uk/internet-grammar offers advice on improving your knowledge and understanding of English Grammar. University College London (UCL) has developed an Internet Grammar of English for undergraduate students. This explains and provides practice exercises for all common grammatical terms. It is available free-of-charge to all users from UK educational institutions (logging in using a domain ending in ‘ac.uk’).
