Biography

Sophie is responsible for supervising and supporting team members and the core activities in the Student Services Team – specifically those within the ‘Admissions and Onboarding’ and ‘Student Experience and Wellbeing’ portfolios.

Sophie assists Danielle Simpson (Student Services Manager) with the team’s collaborative working with other departmental teams to support students and colleagues, as well as across the wider University. This includes the Student’s Union (YUSU), Graduate Student Association (GSA), the Open Door Team and the University’s Student Wellbeing Officers to enhance the student and learner experience.

Sophie acts as the first point of contact within the department for our student and learner representatives, such as the Department Representatives (UG and PG) and the Course Representatives. Sophie is involved in their recruitment, induction and ongoing support throughout their role. Sophie is also the co-Lead of the department’s Mental Health Awareness and Wellbeing Group (MHAWG).

Sophie supports the team with the core activities of both portfolios and responds to enquiries from students and colleagues. For example, supporting the processing and authorisation of TDAE travel expense forms and the activities of the recruitment cycle.
