Profile

Biography

Emma joined the York Trials Unit in February 2022 as a Trial Support Officer and became a Trial Coordinator in February 2023. 

Since joining the York Trials Unit, Emma has been working on a surgical, non-inferiority, randomised controlled trial called the FLARE Trial, where she has been supporting the set up of the trial itself and has also developed her skills in creating a trial website and animated patient information sheet.  

Previous to this role, she has worked on the set up and management of studies from a site perspective. This included over 40 Emergency Medicine and COVID-19 research projects ranging from non/CTIMPs to large scale data collection studies that touched on a variety of disciplines; stroke, cardiology, toxicology, infectious diseases, respiratory, orthopaedic, and public health.

Projects

  • FLARE - A multi-centre, two-arm, non-inferiority, parallel group, randomised controlled trial with an internal pilot, economic evaluation and nested qualitative study, to assess whether the repair of the Flexor Digitorum Profundus (FDP) alone results in a as good as quality of life compared to repairing FDP and the Flexor Digitorum Superficialis (FDS).
