Emma joined the York Trials Unit in February 2022 as a Trial Support Officer, and later became a Trial Coordinator in February 2023.
Since joining the York Trials Unit, Emma has been working on a surgical, non-inferiority, randomised controlled study called the FLARE trial. Here she has been supporting trial and site set up, along with developing animation material aimed at patients and clinicians.
Before joining the York Trials Unit, Emma was a Research Project Manager at a hospital in Edinburgh. She supported the setup and maintenance of multiple emergency medicine and COVID-19 research studies, ranging from large scale audits to CTIMPs in a variety of disciplines; stroke, cardiology, toxicology, infectious disease, respiratory, orthopaedic and public health. In addition, she provided administrative support to the team, organised events, such as a 2 day international emergency medicine research conference, delivered training to the team, and setup and managed a -80c freezer and sample processing area.
